Agree with Obama?

Dear MoveOn member,

President Obama recently proposed that for the first time in history the Environmental Protection Agency will enforce global warming pollution limits under the Clean Air Act. The biggest polluters like coal plants and refineries would finally have to do something to cut down their pollution.1

But Big Oil and Coal are standing in the way because they don't want to do anything to clean up.2

The EPA is accepting public comments on Obama's plan for just a few more days. They read these comments very closely to determine if there's enough public support to go ahead. And we can be sure the right wing is sending lots of comments opposing the plan.

Dear MoveOnTheresNothingToSeeHere Blinder-Wearing Morons:
Just because they're doing something you think they should do, since you love Socialism and dream of the day when the utiopian One World Government runs the planet so that Elitists like you don't have to beg plebes like me for money, doesn't mean that the EPA gives a rats ass about the environment.

World's biggest polluter...
UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT

Look it up, morons. All of your little happy sources will agree with that statement. So why do you think the government will somehow fix this?

I'll tell you why: because you are either brain damaged beyond repair or you don't care about the environment either, you just want more government control.

So keep pretending there's a "right wing" and a "left wing" and that those of us on the streets really believe in all that. Then act surprised when the lynch mobs show up to your office ready for a little Tree of Liberty watering.

Idiots.

479,520 Minutes Later

That's how long it's been since Barack Obama was sworn in as President. At the end of this first year, some progressives are feeling holiday blahs because we haven't won everything we wanted.

Don't.

Remember our hard battle at the start of the year over whether to direct our tax money toward creating jobs and stimulating the economy? Won that one.

My (actual) TrueMajority response:
Won it how? By having an even higher unemployment rate? Ya, that did a lot for America right there.

You people are pathetic. Since you pander to the upper-middle-class leftists who think "majority" means "communism" (er...progressive), you think they won't notice how many unemployed there are because they are still doing fine and probably think that El Presidente is going to somehow "fix" the economy and they'll get all that money they lost in the IRA back ten-fold.

All they have to do is give up some more freedom, send a couple more donations your way, and all will be well.

Suuuuuure...

Stuff THIS in Your Stocking

Dear Aaron,

It's that time of year again. But don't stress, TrueMajority is here to help. If you're looking to find the perfect gift (and avoid the crowds) then come visit our online store.

Uhh... My response to TrueMajority the Capitalists?

Umm... I thought you guys were all about "Democracy" and "Social Justice" and stuff? Aren't those decidedly Communistic ideals?

Then you send out stuff like this, showing off your new capitalistic enterprise. Isn't that a little contradictory? Shouldn't you be giving this stuff away? I mean, after all, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." Right?

Just trying to clear up this apparent inconsistency.

Don't buy this war

Dear Aaron,

Don't let Congress send us deeper into war.

Last night President Obama announced that he's escalating the war in Afghanistan, bringing the number of U.S. troops in that country to 100,000 or more.1

It's the wrong decision, but it's not too late to change things.

To complete the escalation, Congress needs to sign off on the plans and the funding for extra troops and equipment - a staggering $1 trillion or more.2

Last night, Congress heard from the president. Today, they need to hear from you.

Dear TrueMajoritySocialistAholes:

Wow, you really kept the kid gloves on for that one. Didn't you? Why don't you tell the truth?

Your good buddy Obama the Socialist is letting you down because he promised to end the War in Afghanistan and now he's reneging on that promise and sending in even more of our troops to die in some God-forsaken place so Big Oil can have their pipeline.

Aren't you people even a little bit ticked off that he so blatantly lied to you? Doesn't that bother you?

I guess it wouldn't behoove your agenda to talk bad about the Obamination now, since you were so gung ho about him up to just recently.

Comon... Admit you made a mistake and that BHO needs to Go.

A climate solution for young people

Dear Aaron,

I've got a story for the young, and the young at heart.

Alec Loorz was just 12 years old when he saw An Inconvenient Truth and got motivated to stop global warming.

He asked to be an Al Gore-trained climate presenter, but they said he was too young. So Alec put together his own presentation about climate change and started delivering it to other young people. Alec has toured schools and concerts, won awards and recognition, and he's demonstrated a unique ability to get young people fired up about climate change.

Earlier this year, Alec wrote the Declaration of Independence from fossil fuels and has already gathered over 30,000 signatures from other young people. Now, Alec and his team have come up with a wild, hip-hop themed video to get young people and facebook users to sign.

My TrueMajority response to the FakeMajority who don't want to hear responses from plebes like me:

Hello, TrueMajority and thank you, once again, for the one-sided, non-factual, thinly disguised beg-a-email you sent asking me to support some kid by giving you money.

Rather than make the usual arguments against your blatant socialism, I've decided to re-write your letter, above, and filter out the nonsense to include only the truth. It will get ugly.

"Dear [insert shill we want to give us money here],

I've got a story that will pull at your heart strings, causing you to hopefully ignore all logic and reason and (most of all) scientific evidence.

Alec Loorz was just 12 years old when he was subjected to An Inconvenient Truth at his local government indoctrination camp (school) and he got motivated to stop global warming, thanks to Al Gore's complete misrepresentation of the truth and hokey, totally disproven science.

He asked to be an Al Gore-trained climate disasterist, but they said he was a legal liability because of his age. So Alec put together his own presentation about global warming, complete with no less than three references to dying polar bears, and started subjecting other young people to it. Alec has toured schools and concerts, won awards from other idiots, and demonstrated a unique ability to convince other young people that science is all about falsified graphs and heart-pulling pictures of animals in distress.

Earlier this year, Alec plagiarized the Declaration of Independence, aiming it towards fossil fuels and has gathered over 30,000 signatures from other young stooges. Now, Alec and his team have come up with a wild, no-talent (meaning hip-hop) themed video to get even more of the uneducated masses to sign on.

So send us money, [insert plebe donor here], so we can help Alec promote falsified science and crackpot theories to the masses.

Of course, if you need real science and solid information on the subject of "climate change," don't bother reading this.

Stay off FOX

Dear MoveOn member,

All year, FOX has worked 24/7 to block President Obama's agenda—repeating lies about "death panels," promoting Tea Party protests, and whipping up fake political scandals.

Now, President Obama is fighting back. The White House communications director said FOX is a "wing of the Republican Party...let's not pretend they're a news network." To draw attention to its biased coverage, President Obama will not appear on FOX for the rest of this year.

It's about time Democrats stood up to FOX! Can you sign this petition asking Democrats to support President Obama's stance by staying off FOX as long as he does?

My response to MoveOn, the DNC apology group:

Hello, MoveOn-WeDon'tWantYourKindHere leadership. I received your latest beg-a-thon/action missive and thought I'd send you a response. I'm doing so through my blog, since your love of "democracy" means you don't accept direct email responses to your diatr email calls to action.

I agree with you. FOX is the Republican News Network in disguise. However, if you're going to make that claim and call that a reason to "do something," then I'm going to point out the obvious:

ABC, MSNBC, and for the most part CNN are Obama-apologists like yourself. Therefore, since you love partisanship, I'm going to ask all Republicans to boycott the Obama News Networks while you're busy boycotting the Republican News Network.

This way, we can just boycott all mainstream networks and let them continue their descent into oblivion where they belong.

Hopefully, they'll take their outdated, useless, Hegelian Dialectic two-party political paradigm with them. You can go too, MoveOn. Wouldn't want you to feel left out or anything.

I have long since stopped giving money to the false paradigm Marxists who call themselves Democrats and Republicans. I no longer give money to the National Republican Apologists (NRA), the Appropriate Causes and Leftists United (ACLU), or any of these other propagandist groups.

Instead, I put money into groups that really matter. Like the GnAS (Guns n Ammo Show), the OK (Oath Keepers), etc.

Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the Beast.

Peace and our President

Just nine months after taking office, President Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize.1

The Nominating Committee praised our President "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," especially his work on nuclear disarmament.2 And while we remain mired in two wars right now, many of us share the Committee's hope and expectation that Obama will end these conflicts, and lead our country and the world towards a more peaceful future.

Let's congratulate President Obama today and remind him that while there's more to be done, we'll be with him all the way as he continues to work for peace.

My "I have a real job, so this is a few days late" response:

Uhh... this is blatantly Obama worshiping and factually incorrect on so many levels, it's pathetic.

First, the deadline for the nominations was in mid-February, at which time Obama had been in office for only a couple of weeks or so. At that point, he had done absolutely nothing towards "nuclear disarmament" or even peace. In face, he'd made statements already wherein he was backpedaling from his campaign stance of "withdrawal, withdrawal, and peace" with respect to our two wars in the Middle East.

Next, he has made overtures to the Islamic community and most of the nations of the Middle East while simultaneously beating the war drum against Iran.

Most glaringly of all, even if we accept that he's getting this award for non-political reasons and merely because he somehow deserves it, he has failed to address the most obvious nuclear threats on the planet: North Korea and Israel.

Both nations have nuclear weapons and neither is part of the UN treaty for non-proliferation. Both are loudly warlike and one of which actively makes war on its neighbors daily. So far, absolutely nothing from Obama on those two nations.

The Nobel Peace Prize became a laughing stock when it was presented to Al Gore and was on shaky ground before that when it was given to Jimmy Carter. Now it has become an obvious political tool for grandiose statements towards political figures and has little to do with real accomplishment or even "peace."

No matter how you slice it, Obama doesn't deserve this award.

So sing your accolades to your favorite El Presidente, but it's just more happy horseshit. Obama is not a savior, nor is he an accomplished world leader. He's just your guy who got lucky and made it into the Big House. Just like the guy before him, the guy before him, and the guy before him on down the line.

America hasn't had real political leadership in over a century. Our politicians, including your precious Barack, are corrupt sellouts who are sending us all up the river. Yet you sing their praises and continue to solicit funds on their behalf.

"You lie!"

Dear MoveOn member,

Last night, President Obama challenged Congress to "meet history's test" and finally fix our broken health care system. He pledged to seek common ground between Democrats and Republicans, and assured them all: "My door is always open."

Republicans responded by heckling, booing, and hissing. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) screamed out "You lie!" as the President defended his health care plan against false right-wing attacks.

We can't afford to let right-wing extremists like Joe Wilson hold health care reform hostage. As Obama put it, "the time for games has passed. Now is the season for action."

My MoveOn We're Not a Democracy Response:

Sure, MoveOn, I'll go along with your little scheme. You may not like my letter, though. Here goes:

Dear CONgress,

I've been instructed by the people at MoveOn that I'm supposed to tell you that we aren't to let the right-wing extremists shut down helath care reform. So I'm doing that, but I have a caveat: don't let left-wing extremists define what "reform" is.

I'm sure you didn't read the bill. I don't blame you. HR3200 is over a thousand pages long. It's written in legaleze. It takes a law degree and a team of legal experts to decipher and even then you'll only get half of it.

I can tell you this, though... there is no "reform" in that bill. Just more garbage, but on such a scale that it will make the Homeland Security Act, the USA PATRIOT Act and the Cash For Clunkers program look downright simplistic.

So I urge you to ignore both extremists wings (right AND left) and stick to your guns about ignoring the health care issue altogether until someone brings up something that matches the dictionary definition of "reform."

Here's that definition, so you don't have to look it up:
re⋅form
/rɪˈfɔrm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ri-fawrm] Show IPA
–noun
1. the improvement or amendment of what is wrong, corrupt, unsatisfactory, etc.: social reform; spelling reform.

President Obama needs to hear from you

Dear MoveOn member,

News just broke that President Obama will give a major speech on health care before Congress on Wednesday where he'll lay out what he thinks needs to be in the health care bill.

Alright, you asked for it, MoveOnTheresNothingToSeeHereButSocialism:

Dear President Obama,

Let me start off by saying what a great public speaker you are and how nice you look on TV. Thanks for constantly invading my living room telling me about the important talking points in Washington.

Today, I want to talk to you, though, and tell you what I think about the health care issue.

I have three points I think you should consider before you go off half-cocked on the issue and try to put anything before Congress. Sort of a personal hint: whatever you do give them, make sure it's written with lots of big lawyer words and is on as many pages as you can muster, even if you have to double-space some of it. The bigger and more lawylerly it is, the less likely they are to read it. Just saying...

Anyway, my views on health care are pretty simple. I have three suggestions I think would only be fair in any public health care option:

1) Force all government employees to go onto whatever the new public option is. This include elected officials, bureaucrats, and even those already retired who're on the public retirement plan. Ya, it includes you and your family too, but I'm sure that any plan you have in the works will be good enough for all of you to abide with too. Right?

2) Lump Social Security and Medicare into the plans too. If we're going to get public health care rolling, we may as well start with the public health care options already out there and just ad to them. Right? I'm sure their budgets can handle it. They're pretty big.

3) Don't waste any time with any "grace" or "transition" periods. Once the new public option is out there, let's not waste any time forcing everyone to quickly comply. I hear those IRS agents are getting bored anyway, so may as well fill in their time until April 15 rolls around. They're already good at this stuff anyway.

Those three suggestions should either make or break health care, Mr. President, and are surely all important, fair, and should definitely be included in anything that's going to be across the board. I mean, like you've said several times now, the current system discriminates against people who don't have what others have got. Right? So why not make sure that it's all the same for everyone, across the board.

Fair is fair. Even for you, sir.

The only place reform could die

Last week we leveled with you - Healthcare reform could be in trouble because a small group of conservative critics were attacking public forums (and civil discourse). Now, you've probably seen media reports that these hecklers are getting their way as President Obama and others back away from the public option.1

But the media is wrong, and so are the hecklers. The public option is alive and well with the support of a super-majority of Americans.2 Not only that, powerful members of the House have stepped up to defend the public option and to smack down the crazy critics who equate insurance reform with Socialism and death panels.3,4

My True Majority response to TrueMajority:

Small group? Small? You call rallies where the opposition to Obama's so-called reform double or triple the number of bussed-in, paid supporters "small?" Gee. I wasn't a genius in the classroom or anything, but I did learn vocabulary and math. The only place the opposition is "small" is in Obama's staged events where only his supporters are allowed in the room and on camera.

As for this "super-majority" of Americans... What does that mean? Where are they? How come they aren't outnumbering the "small" opposition?

Sorry, TrueMajority, but you're propaganda is too thick to even clear your own ranks here. It's blatantly a LIE.

Wake up. Nobody wants these phony reforms and insurance company drafted "changes."

Nobody wants your bullshit "public option" and we're not falling for your total lack of understanding of the word "reform."

Nothing gets REFORMED with these plans. It just gets BIGGER.

Where's the proposals to FIX the current problems first? Before we ad more to them, that is?

Ya, that's what I thought. That might require, like, brains and thinking and economic understanding. None of which you, Obama, or most of Congress has. You only understand power grabbing and government-enhancing.

An Unlikely Trio

This one isn't from the usual suspects (MoveOn/TrueMajority), but it's interesting nonetheless.

Dear Aaron,

There's a lot of heated discussion right now in America over big issues. That's democracy. But it's also important to work together where we can find common ground, to achieve a common goal.

President Obama has asked our General Chairman Newt Gingrich to work with him on an issue where we've found common ground - education reform. We believe the President has shown courage on an issue Americans care deeply about, and that is charter schools. He deserves a helping hand, because fixing education for our children should not be a partisan issue.

So on behalf of American Solutions, Newt will be joining Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Reverend Al Sharpton on a multi-city tour focused on reforming America's schools.

For behind the scenes tour updates, and to see the solutions Newt will be proposing, click here.

Our tour will include school visits, stakeholder meetings and media briefings, and we hope to regularly update you on what we learn, what solutions we propose, and how you can get involved.

This tour is about our children and their future. It is about the future of America. If we want to remain the safest, freest and most prosperous nation in the world, our children and grandchildren must have access to schools where they can learn to their fullest potential. Our schools must be accountable for results and be focused solely on learning and achievement.

To learn about some of the solutions we believe are necessary, and to stay updated on our education reform tour, don't forget to sign up here

Sincerely,

Dan Varroney
Senior Vice-President & COO
American Solutions

My response that they'll never read:

Umm...Newt Gingrich and Al Sharpton are gonna fix our schools? Lord help us!

I have an idea: close down the federal Department of (non)Education. That should do wonders. Would be a good start, anyway.

Newt and Al, saving the world for the children. Oi... what's next? Hillary and Palin saving us from the evil Republican-Democrat regime of tyranny?

Under Attack from MoveOn.org and the AFL-CIO

This week in the wake of our August Recess Call to Action, FreedomWorks has been the target of a vicious campaign by the likes of MoveOn.org, ACORN, the AFL-CIO, and the Democrat National Committee (DNC) to discredit our organization and slander our membership.

Help us fight back!

As a FreedomWorks member, I think you have a right to know what these groups are saying about you.

While it’s only the first week of the month-long August Congressional Recess, hard-working FreedomWorks volunteers have already been attending town halls and listening sessions to rightly voice their opposition to big government reform proposals such as the cap and trade energy tax and President Obama’s hostile takeover of America’s health care system. The recess action kits that we have provided include talking points on these issues so that activists can be well-informed. They also include tough questions for legislators to answer to provide clarity as to their positions on these important issues.

We feel that it is fair for a lawmaker to hear their constituents’ concerns and frustration over the incredible over-reaches of government power we see in both ObamaCare and the cap and trade energy tax proposals, and to demand answers on where they stand. But the Left has seen fit to characterize our actions as “disruptive” and “disgusting,” even calling us “thugs” and “un-American.”

They are even perpetrating outright lies to the media by accusing FreedomWorks of encouraging our members to be unruly and shout-down Members of Congress, not allowing them to speak. This is of course, not true. FreedomWorks prides itself on making sure you, as members, are well informed on the issues, ask tough questions, and get answers to them. We always encourage volunteers to be respectful, but resolute in communicating their positions on important issues.

These liberal Leftist groups are manufacturing such lies because it gives them a target and they have organized an all-out attack on FreedomWorks’ Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Our offices have literally been hammered over the last week by an organized patch-through phone call campaign by MoveOn.org, the Unions, and others that have hit us with phone calls comparing FreedomWorks staff and members to Nazis and issuing profanity-laced verbal assaults including one racist rant leveled at an African American member of our staff. Liberal pundit Rachel Maddow even “declared war” on FreedomWorks’ website, essentially encouraging cyber-attacks by liberal hackers.

These dirty tactics by the Left have forced us to beef-up security at our offices and for our website, and even contact the FBI to report some of the more threatening calls that we have received.

As you know, FreedomWorks does not encourage this kind of underhanded activity. We believe that at their core, our arguments centered on fundamental free market principles stand on their own, which is why we don’t resort to intimidation and lies as the Left so often does.

Nevertheless, the Left is playing dirty and turning up the heat day by day. MoveOn.org recently announced that they are building a war chest in an effort to crush us and that in one day they raised over $250,000.

If we are to have a fighting chance against this liberal juggernaut, I need your help today.

Please help us to fight back by taking part in FreedomWorks August Recess Call to Action; attend a town hall meeting this month; and chip in $25, $50, or whatever you can afford to help us continue fighting against Obama’s big government agenda despite the all-out assault that MoveOn.org and others have launched:

Help us fight back!

While it is a daunting task to go up against Obama and the Left’s well-funded political machine, the good news is they wouldn’t be attacking us if we weren’t being effective. Your emails, phone calls, and face-to-face interaction with legislators and their staff is making a difference and that is why MoveOn.org is raising money specifically to go after us.

Now is the time to kick our campaigns against government-run health care and the ominous cap and trade energy tax into high gear. If we don’t fight back hard and build up the necessary resources for these campaigns, I fear that the Left’s machine will stifle many of our proposed activities and events, and could even threaten the September 12 March on Washington, DC.

Don’t let MoveOn.org and others on the Left win! Don’t allow them to slander and dismiss what FreedomWorks and you are working so hard on. Help us by sending your generous contribution today!

Yours in Freedom,

Dick Armey

This is getting ugly

Dear MoveOn member,

It's getting ugly out there.

All across the country, right-wing extremists are disrupting congressional town-hall meetings with venomous attacks on President Obama's plans for health care and clean energy.

* Last night in Tampa, Florida, a town hall meeting erupted into violence, with the police being called to break up fist fights and shoving matches.1
* A Texas Democrat was shouted down by right-wing hecklers, many of whom admitted they didn't even live in his district.2
* One North Carolina representative announced he wouldn't be holding any town-hall meetings after his office began receiving death threats.3
* And in Maryland, protesters hung a Democratic congressman in effigy to oppose health-care reform.4

We've got a plan to fight back against these radical right-wingers. We've hired skilled grassroots organizers who are working with thousands of local volunteers to show Congress that ordinary Americans continue to support President Obama's agenda for change. And we're building new online tools to track events across the country and make sure MoveOn members turn out at each one.

But we need to scale up our efforts quickly to make sure this plan works. To really swing into action during this month's congressional recess, we need to raise at least $250,000 immediately. Can you chip in $25 to support our work?

My Response to MoveOn and Their $250,000 Continual Begging:

How come every time you beg for money, there's always a magic "$250,000" needed? I've been getting your emails for over a year. You haven't raised that yet? Geez. Maybe it's time to consider that your "democracy" has spoken and doesn't like you. Ron Paul raised more than that in a couple of hours...

Anyway, let's have a look at the "viscious" and "organized" attacks happening with this healthcare debate. I don't use the word "reform" because Obama's plan doesn't "reform" anything except adding to the insurance co's pocketbooks (see Business Week for details) and lawyers (see Washington Times - wait, isn't Obama a lawyer?).

Now, let's look at those so-called attacks by the righties against the obviously publicly-minded lefties at these Town Hall meetings:

That's some rather disturbing video of some union members attacking a guy handing out Gadsen flags and calling him racial names. Wait! The union guys are LEFTIES in support of public health care and the black guy is a RIGHTIE handing out protest flags! Woops!!!

Wait, here's more:

OHHHH!! Hold on, those are people getting let into a meeting and bypassing the protesters outside who don't favor healthcare "reform." Oops! I forgot, though, the lefties are all about "democracy" aren't they?

Here's the news report (you'll hate it, it's from Fox):

Hold on, here's more violence. This woman is hitting a man over health care. Wait a second, though... she's not AGAINST reform...she's for it! AIEEE!

flag@whitehouse.gov

I've decided that, besides posting the letters I get from TrueMajority and MoveOn here, I'm also going to start forwarding them to flag@whitehouse.gov and reporting them as "fishy."

Obama says he wants us to send everything we see as questionable to that address. So I'm on it.

The truth about healthcare reform

Dear Aaron,

There's been a lot of talk about healthcare this week. President Obama's touring the country,1 Republicans are spreading misinformation on the cable networks2 and Congressional leaders keep announcing major breakthroughs, but never holding a vote.3

With all the sound and fury, does ANYONE know what's really going on? We think one man might.

Dr. Howard Dean has been a physician, a governor, a presidential candidate and the head of the Democratic National Committee. If there is one guy in America who knows what's wrong with our healthcare system and can make sense of the current debate, it's him.

My TrueMajority answer to FakeMajority:

Umm... OK, you just said "truth" and Howard Dean in the same sentence. That's a pretty serious credibility #FAIL.

That's all I've got to say about that.

Obama's birth certificate

Dear MoveOn member,

Why is CNN promoting right-wing paranoid conspiracy theories about President Obama's birth certificate?

The fringe ideas of the so-called "birthers" have been thoroughly debunked.1 But CNN host Lou Dobbs perpetuates these myths by constantly talking about them on his shows and asserting that Obama still needs to "produce a birth certificate."

This is not responsible journalism. Our friends at Media Matters have launched a campaign calling on CNN to address its Lou Dobbs problem—but a lot of us are going to have to speak out in order to get CNN's attention.

My MoveOn Response, since they always tell me to "move on, we don't want your kind here" anyway:

Umm... So now it's OK in your little "Democracy" to trample free speech? Ya, nice Democracy.

Not that it matters. I found Obama's birth certificate and it looks pretty legit to me:

Friday, July 24, 2009

Dear Aaron,

Health industry lobbyists and conservatives in Congress keep saying we need to slow down health care reform, even though we KNOW that over 200,000 people loose coverage, go bankrupt or die every month we delay.1 And now, that multi-million dollar lobbying is succeeding in slowing things down.2

Our best chance for real reform is to keep Congress focused on a simple message - Reform is essential, must cover everyone, and must make healthcare cheaper.

My True(non)Majority Response to the True(bs)Majority:

Ya, let's hurry this through to make sure it happens because we know if anyone has any time to analyze it, they'll realize it's all a fucking scam.

Your little health insurance SCAM is going to FORCE me to buy health insurance that I don't want because what I do have is NOT "good enough" for Obama.

By the way, you convince your asshole Senators to agree that they too will be subject to this insurance and will drop their current (massive) coverage (paid by our dollars) in favor of this and maybe I'll care.

But since the Senators just recently said that they DO NOT WANT this health insurance option for themselves and their families...

Fuck you very much.

Serious as a heart attack about ending the F-22

Dear Aaron,

These Reps took $1.3 million in campaign cash then voted for the F-22!

John Murtha
Call them out by putting this tough new ad on the air.

President Obama and Defense Secretary Gates "are as serious as a heart attack" about ending the F-22.1 But some members of Congress have pledged to keep buying this needless warplane no matter who opposes it or how much it costs.2

So as Congress continues to defy the President, Secretary of Defense and common sense, you might be asking yourself: "why do we keep building these planes?"

Our new report has the answer - the same members of Congress responsible for buying the F-22 and other military hardware took over $1.3 million in campaign donations from the weapons builders last year.3

We need to get the truth out FAST about the web of connections between Congress and the weapons builders - so we've created a tough new radio ad to target the Representatives most tempted to trade weapons contracts for campaign cash.

My TrueMajority answer to the fake TrueMajority that needs to change it's name to TrueObama Socialists instead:

I've already told you why the F-22 is a good idea and why we need it. Now, I think I'll point out something that should be blatantly obvious, but that you won't bother mentioning because it'll make you look bad:

Every Goddamned Congresscritter that voted for Cap and Trade about a week ago received TWICE the donations from groups interested in getting that passed as those who voted against. That amounts to a total of several hundred thousand dollars!

Now, with Obamacare, we can see who's been paid and who hasn't and it makes the payoffs for the military industrial complex look cheap!

Why don't you mention that, you hypocrites? Right, because you support the socialistic programs and could care less whether we're protected by a strong military or not.

So FU, TrueMasocialists!

Congress needs to hear from you on health care

Dear MoveOn member,

Are you a medical professional, or involved in a small business? If so, your voice is needed in the health care debate right away.

Right now, the heart of Obama's plan is under attack from big insurance companies and conservative lobbyists1,2.

But the few insiders getting rich off of the current system don't speak for all Americans, so we're putting together two special open letters—one from medical professionals and one from small businesspeople—on the importance of passing real reform, including a strong public health insurance option.

If you're a medical professional or involved in a small business, we need your voice today.

My MoveOn response to MoveOn that they don't want to hear:

I am a small business owner and my wife is in the medical field. Guess what? Neither of us like Obamacare. So we're calling our Congresscritters and writing letters and filling out petitions (not yours) to tell Congress NOT TO SUPPORT OBAMA'S SOCIALIZED MEDICINE PLAN.

You can call it whatever you want, but that's what it is. So we don't support it.

Go find someone else to support your socialism. Better yet, if you love socialistic medicine, move to frikkin Canada and get it and leave me alone. I don't want to pay for your Commie dreams.

Only four show up for health care rally (Obamacare)

MoveOn put on a rally in Tupelo and only four people (count 'em 4) showed up. Wow. Guess it's time for MoveOn to just move on. Eh?

Swipe this card to wipe out Pentagon debt

Dear Aaron,

This card has convinced relatives and neighbors - now it can convince Congress!
F-22 card

Astound and amaze your Senator - Tilt the card one way, you see where our money goes (one useless jet); tilt it the other way, you see where it could be going (fixing dozens of schools).

Sign now to send a card to your Senators and ask them to end the F-22!

Want your own F-22 card? Order them from our store!

Ending production of the F-22 fighter jet should be common sense. The plane's a Cold War relic built to win dogfights with the Soviet Union.1 But despite never having flown in combat, we've already bought 187 F-22s at a cost of more than $351 million each.2

These planes don't make us any safer, but companies like Boeing and Lockheed make a fortune building them. And so far those same corporations have spent enough on lobbyists and campaign donations to scare Congress into keeping the weapons contracts alive, even in this recession.3

President Obama is FINALLY standing up to the weapons builders and calling for an end to the F-22.4 So far, Congress has been too scared to follow suit - but we've just learned that there will be an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill that could end the F-22 program for good.

Dear MoveOn, who doesn't want to hear anything I say because I'm not a socialist Obamabot:

What you're missing are two crucial things:
1) The F-22 is not a standalone fighter plane, but is part of an overall fighting system. Taking this away would be like building Patriot missile systems and forgetting the rocket fuel to launch the Patriots.

2) I note that you give a crap about a couple of billion in the Pentagon, but you could care less about the TRILLIONS Obama is wasting on pork spending and crony payoffs (through Cap and Trade, "stimulus," and now Healthcare).

You people are morons. The Chinese, the Russians, the Israelis, and most other major powers in the world already have aircraft that are better than what we field right now. The F-22 is joined with the F-35 as part of an overall air system.

Not that you care. You don't want us to be defended. That's why you hate gun ownership too.

A note from Al Franken

Dear MoveOn member,

Woohoo!

Al Franken was just officially declared the next U.S. senator from Minnesota! And he sent a personal note to MoveOn members in the wake of his victory (see below).

Will you join me in sending Senator-elect Franken the biggest, happiest congratulations card ever? As he heads to Washington to fight for progressive change, let's make sure he knows we've got his back.

My response to the MoveOn socialist scumbags who otherwise won't read my response:

Woopty doo, Al Franken got "elected." Look, people, Al Franken is a lying, cheating, thieving scumbag. So he'll fit in just fine with the other a-holes in Washington.

Why are we celebrating sending another piece of garbage to Washington? Do you live in Minnesota and you're just happy to be getting rid of him or something?

Screw Frankin and screw you too, MoveOn. You people are just part of the problem and your celebration of a worthless even like Al Franken getting the win in an off-season, off-timing election proves that. I'm sure if he'd have lost, you'd have made a lot of noise and cried fowl and lamented over how the "democracy" has "failed."

I don't know why I bother. I'll just let you have your victory. Woe unto you when everything falls apart, though, and you try to come to my house to confiscate what I've got in your attempt to pay your unsecured debt (aka "socialism").

MoveOn Doesn't Like Cap-n-Trade

Dear MoveOn member,

The U.S. House passed a huge energy bill Friday. Lots of good people are applauding the passage of this legislation. But here's the ugly truth:

Big Oil and Coal lobbyists, working in cahoots with some conservative Blue Dog Democrats, weakened the bill terribly—it now falls far short of President Obama's campaign vision to transition America's economy to clean energy and create millions of new jobs.

In fact, the bill repeals a key part of the Clean Air Act and doesn't do nearly enough to shift America to renewable energy—so instead of a boom in solar and wind, the bill locks us into dirty coal power for another generation.1

Working with progressive champions in the House, we were able to achieve modest gains at the eleventh hour (see details below). But saving the Clean Air Act and fixing other problems with the bill as the fight moves to the Senate will require a massive grassroots outcry.

So we have a decision to make: Should MoveOn launch a full-court press to fix the bill, and turn up the heat on senators who might be tempted to side with Big Oil and Coal?

I was almost happy until I read the second paragraph. Once again, your true roots show through, MoveOn:

Sure enough, the big, fat, corporate welfare check that is Cap and Trade will accomplish a couple of key things: it will screw us out of more jobs by raising taxes on business and, more importantly, it will make Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi richer.

What? How's that?

Al Gore (mostly) owns the largest of the "carbon offset" trade schemes on Wall Street. Many of his buddies from Wall Street are on Obama's staff in the White House. Coincidence?

Nancy Pelosi will get money from GE and other energy companies for whom her friends and family are on the boards or work for too.

Not to mention the EPA suppressed contrary evidence and findings in order to make "global warming" a fact that Obama and Waxman could point to as evidence. Convenient how the story on that didn't break until AFTER the bill was passed.

Oh, and don't bother looking to Europe. You know, the socialists you all love to point to as a model and example of how the U.S. should be? Ya, those guys. They're all looking at dumping their Cap-n-Trade laws and going back to the way it was because their laws have done NOTHING to help and only gotten in the way--while increasing unemployment.

Huh..

Of course, I only pay 58% of my income in taxes right now. That leaves 42% of my income free and that might be too much for you socialists to see fit to let me keep. Better enact some more confiscation schemes.

Go get a real job, MoveOn, and quit begging for donations so you can keep sitting in your offices spewing out these moronic emails as if you gave a crap about what real Americans actually want.

If you love socialism so much and think it's so great, move to China. Leave my money alone, you thieves!

Rocking the lawn for healthcare

Dear Aaron,

Keep it up!

Healthcare reform hangs in the balance. Donate $35 to get us there!

If you were in Washington DC yesterday, you couldn't have missed the call for healthcare reform. Working with our state affiliates from the USAction family, we packed the lawn outside the US capitol to overflowing.1

As the crowd roared and Senators and Representatives took the stage to pledge their support for the reforms you are demanding, Matt and I were awed at the size, scope and diversity of the movement for quality, affordable healthcare. And the message from President Obama and our allies was clear - keep it up.2

The first details the healthcare reform bill are being written as we speak, and we'll see the results of those negotiations in just a few weeks. We need to keep the pressure on, and we need your help. Chip in $35 right now to help us see this fight through and deliver healthcare reform we can be proud of.

My TrueMajority(NOT) Response to TrueMajoriscam:

Uhh... OK, I know exactly the kind of healthcare system that I want. Here goes:

One that has ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, ABSOLUTELY NO government intervention in it.
One that has FULL FUCKING FREEDOM for the doctors, patients, and all involved.
One that doesn't involve any bureaucrat deciding what I can and can't have.

Above all, I want one that isn't under constraint by do-gooder morons in government and can do, say, and be what it wants so that I have true choice, full disclosure, and the ability to have the entire, unabashed truth given to me.

You know, like education was before government got involved.

Ya, like that.

If your group isn't about giving me THAT kind of healthcare, you can piss off. I know you're not into that kind of freedom of choice and personal empowerment, since you're a bunch of commie socialists, so feel free to just piss off right now. Today. This minute. Off the nearest cliff and onto a high voltage power line, preferably.

SCREW OBAMACARE and SCREW YOU, TrueMajority LIARS AND YOUR SOCIALIST PLANS

It's 2:30 a.m. – do you know where $2 billion is?

Dear Aaron,

Stop these wasteful warplanes!

They've never flown in combat, can't fight the Taliban, and the Secretary of Defense doesn't want them - but you're about to be charged $2 billion for these planes.
Call congress now and tell them to stop building planes we don't need, and the Pentagon doesn't want!

Unless we stop it, Congress could vote as soon as TOMORROW to spend more than $2 billion of your money on a fighter jet that even the Pentagon doesn't want. President Obama called for an end to 'weapons as usual' contracting at the Pentagon - including ending production of the F-22 fighter jet. But in a 2:30 a.m. vote, the weapons contractors were able to get enough Republican and Blue-Dog Democrat votes to slip it back in.1

Congressman Barney Frank is leading the fight for Obama's Pentagon budget, but the showdown is now and he doesn't have the votes yet. Call your member of Congress right now and tell him or her to cut these wasteful warplanes.

My response to the morons at TrueMajority.org:

Uhh...hello?! A whopping two people at the Pentagon, both Obama appointees, don't like the F-22 program. All the rest of them strongly favor a new fighter program to replace the aging F-16.

That aside, why are you so worried about this tiny $2 billion when you could be worrying about the $1 billion being wasted on Cash for Clunkers, the $1-3 trillion being wasted on bailouts, and the hundreds of billions being wasted on all of Obama's other worthless programs?

Oh, wait, I know why. It's because Obama=God and you can't question His divine thinking.

Sorry, didn't mean to blaspheme.

The Obamacare horror story you won't hear

by Michelle Malkin, OneNewsNow.com

The White House, Democrats and MoveOn liberals are spreading healthcare sob stories to sell a government takeover. But there's one healthcare policy nightmare you won't hear the Obamas hyping. It's a tale of poor minority patient-dumping in Chicago -- with first lady Michelle Obama's fingerprints all over it.

Both Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa and Democratic Rep. Bobby Rush of Illinois have raised red flags about the outsourcing program run by the University of Chicago Medical Center. The hospital has nonprofit status and receives lucrative tax breaks in exchange for providing charity care.

Yet, in fiscal year 2007, when Mrs. Obama was employed there, it spent a measly $10 million on charity care for the poor -- 1.3 percent of its total hospital expenses, according to an analysis performed for The Washington Post by the nonpartisan Center for Tax and Budget Accountability. The figure is below the 2.1 percent average for nonprofit hospitals in surrounding Cook County.

Rep. Rush called for a House investigation last week in response to months of patient-dumping complaints, noting: "Congress has a duty to expend its power to mitigate and prevent this despicable practice from continuing in centers that receive federal funds."

Don't expect the president to support a probe. While a top executive at the hospital, Mrs. Obama helped engineer the plan to offload low-income patients with non-urgent health needs. Under the Orwellian banner of an "Urban Health Initiative," Mrs. Obama sold the scheme to outsource low-income care to other facilities as a way to "dramatically improve healthcare for thousands of South Side residents."

In truth, it was old-fashioned cost-cutting and favor-trading repackaged as minority aid. Clearing out the poor freed up room for insured (i.e., more lucrative) patients. If a Republican had proposed the very same program and recruited black civic leaders to front it, Michelle Obama and her grievance-mongering friends would be screaming "RAAAAAAAAACISM!" at the top of their lungs.

Joe Stephens of The Washington Post wrote, "To ensure community support, Michelle Obama and others in late 2006 recommended that the hospital hire the firm of David Axelrod, who a few months later became the chief strategist for Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Axelrod's firm (ASK Public Strategies) recommended an aggressive promotional effort modeled on a political campaign -- appoint a campaign manager, conduct focus groups, target messages to specific constituencies, then recruit religious leaders and other third-party 'validators.' They, in turn, would write and submit opinion pieces to Chicago publications."

Some healthcare experts saw through Mrs. Obama and PR man Axelrod -- yes, the same Axelrod who is now President Obama's senior adviser. But the University of Chicago Medical Center hired ASK Public Strategies to promote Mrs. Obama's initiative. Axelrod had the blessing of Chicago political guru Valerie Jarrett -- now a White House senior adviser.

Axelrod's great contribution: re-branding! His firm recommended renaming the initiative after "internal and external respondents expressed the opinion that the word 'urban' is code for 'black' or 'black and poor.' ...Based on the research, consideration should be given to re-branding the initiative." Axelrod and the Obama campaign refused to disclose how much his firm received for its genius re-branding services.

In February 2009, outrage in the Obamas' community exploded upon learning that a young boy covered by Medicaid had been turned away from the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dontae Adams' mother, Angela, had sought emergency treatment for him after a pit bull tore off his upper lip. Mrs. Obama's hospital gave the boy a tetanus shot, antibiotics and Tylenol, and shoved him out the door. The mother and son took an hour-long bus ride to another hospital for surgery.

I'll guarantee you this: You'll never see the Adams family featured at an Obama policy summit or seated next to the first lady at a joint session of Congress to illustrate the failures of the healthcare system.

Following the Adams incident, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) blasted Mrs. Obama and Axelrod's grand plan. The group released a statement expressing "grave concerns that the University of Chicago's policy toward emergency patients is dangerously close to 'patient dumping,' a practice made illegal by the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA)" -- signed by President Reagan, by the way -- "and reflected an effort to 'cherry pick' wealthy patients over poor."

Rewarding political cronies at the expense of the poor while posing as guardians of the downtrodden? Welcome to Obamacare.

Biggest corporate attack on Obama yet

Here we go again...

Dear MoveOn member,

Less than 48 hours ago, the biggest corporations in the country declared war on President Obama's agenda. The scale of the attack is mind-boggling.

The right-wing lobbyists at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will spend $100 million to defeat Obama's plans for health care and a clean energy economy. They call it their "most important project" in nearly 100 years.1

Congress is voting on a crucial energy bill in less than two weeks, and you can count on a barrage of misleading TV ads and arm-twisting in Congress aimed at weakening the bill. We're countering with an emergency organizing drive to strengthen the energy bill—but we urgently need to raise the funds to power our organizing drive.

Can you chip in $25 to help fight back against the Chamber's campaign?

Your local Chamber of Commerce represents small businesses, but the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is different—it represents the interests of mega-corporations, especially Big Oil and Coal.

In the next ten days, we'll pull out all the stops to block the Chamber and strengthen the energy bill. And after the big vote, we'll keep going just as strong—demanding a public health insurance option in the health care bill, fighting for tough new rules to rein in the financial industry, and making sure Obama's progressive agenda gets enough grassroots support to succeed.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment, so we're pulling together our best online, grassroots, and legislative strategies to:

* Flood Capitol Hill with thousands of phone calls.
* Buy online ads targeted to get the attention of opinion-makers in key House districts.
* Bring together progressive members of Congress to speak out about the problems in the bill.
* Hand-deliver petitions to dozens of local congressional offices—and hold media events outside to highlight the voices of unemployed people calling for clean energy jobs.
* Hold face-to-face meetings with congressional staff in Washington and in communities across the country.
* Launch a new website, StrengthenIt.org, where we'll rally local environmental groups to the cause.

We're deciding this weekend on our final plan for pushing Congress before the vote—so we need to know what resources we have available. Can you chip in $25?

Thanks for all you do.

–Anna, Wes, Noah, Nita and the rest of the team

P.S. If you're a member of your local Chamber of Commerce or run a small business, please sign our petition asking the U.S. Chamber to stop lobbying against Obama's clean energy jobs plan:

Dear MoveOn Don't-Wanna-Hear-From-You-Unless-You're-Donating .org:

First, the "big corporations" aren't attacking Obama, they're attacking the stupid ass plans for nationalized health care, fake green job creation, and supposed "green energy economy."

Since you all are a bunch of socialist morons working at a charity with donated paychecks, you've probably never actually run a business. Do you know what it takes? Do you have any idea how much money is spent just to run that business and comply with b.s. government rules, regulations, and laws?

Have you ever even been self-employed? Do you know what it's like to have to make your own paycheck happen? Do you have any idea what the tax burden, regulations, and other requirements are just so you can employ yourself instead of begging one of those corporations (the ones you hate so much) to pay you instead? Ever had a job that wasn't government-funded or based on the donations of others?

Probably not.

Otherwise, you'd realize that Obama's plans for "green jobs" and for a "green economy" and for "public healthcare" (aka Obamacare) are BULLSHIT. They will CRIPPLE the working class, RUIN the middle class, and funnel more money into the coffers of the rich.

Yes, Obama wants to give more money to his rich, corporate buddies.

What? Blashphemy!

Oh really? Who's on Obama's @#$%#$$#^%#$% staff, you jackasses? RICH CORPORATE WALL STREET BANKER TYPES. That's who fills Obama's cabinet and advisory committees.

So shove your "gimme money to help Obama" bullshit and wake your ass up. You're nothing but a crony to the globalists and banker elites. If you can't see that, you are blind and dumb. Pull your head out of the sand, MoveOn!

What we're doing in Congress

Dear MoveOn member,

Here in Washington, there are some encouraging signs on health care reform. Key members of the House and Senate have voiced their support for a public health insurance option—crucial to lowering costs and covering everyone. And just last week, President Obama strongly backed the plan.

But this progress creates a whole new risk: Opponents of reform know that a public health insurance option is likely to be part of the final bill. Their new strategy is to weaken it as much as possible.

We'll only get one shot at health care reform, and we need it to be the best possible plan. So members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus like me are fighting back by drawing a clear line in the sand: We will only support a bill if it includes a strong public health insurance option.

"Strong" means that it is run by the federal government, helps cover all of us, and comes into effect as soon as possible.

But this will only work if the rest of Congress knows that the grassroots support us. Click here to support our line in the sand on a strong public health insurance option:

Dozens of us in Congress are already on board. If your representative is already standing tall, your signature will show the support in his or her home district. If not, it will help convince your representative that it's time to demand a strong public health insurance option.

Publicly pledging to oppose something—instead of just doing so in closed-door sessions with other members of Congress—is certainly an uncommon step. But with nearly 50 million Americans without health care and the rest struggling with out-of-control costs, it's time for bold action.

We believe a strong public option is key to achieving universal health care and lowering costs. The plan will:

* Finally provide relief to small businesses and families. The public health insurance plan will drive costs down across the board, helping everyone who is struggling in this economy.
* Give Americans a choice. So many Americans don't like their private insurance—or don't have it at all. With this plan, they'd be able to choose a plan that's not run by insurance companies. But if they're happy with their current coverage, they can keep it.
* Make universal health care a reality. The public health insurance option will be available to everyone, regardless of job status or pre-existing conditions.

Our colleagues in the Senate and House are releasing their drafts of health care reform legislation right now, so we need to speak out immediately. Click here to stand with us.

Thanks for all you do.

–Representative Jan Schakowsky, 9th district of Illinois

My MoveOn you plebe, MoveOn doesn't want your response response:

Well, this is original. They finally got some Congresscritter to sign on and help them promote something. Since I've already explained why Obamacare is worse than Hillarycare (but sneakier) and why it won't work, let's look at Representative Schakowsky instead.

First, if the good people of Illinois want Obamacare, why don't THEY get it for themselves and leave the rest of U.S., who don't want it, out of the deal? I have no interest in Obamacare and I have even less interest in what the people if Illinois want. I don't live there. I live in Wyoming, which is nothing like Illinois. For one thing, our state isn't in debt.

Now, let's look at the oh-so-enlightening voting record of Miss Schakowsky. Hmm... it is enlightening, for sure.

According to Project Vote Smart, her record says that she is ranked:

2008 In 2008 National Taxpayers Union gave Representative Schakowsky a rating of F.

2007-2008 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the National Tax Limitation Committee 0 percent in 2007-2008.

2007 In 2007 Americans for Tax Reform gave Representative Schakowsky a grade of 0.

2007 Based on a point system, with points assigned for actions in support of or in opposition to FreedomWorks's position, Representative Schakowsky received a rating of 5.

That makes sense, given that she's now touting Obamacare as a plan and is one of the few 100% "welfare" voters in Congress.

This can be juxtaposed, of course, with the "government should pay for everything" so-called "energy" groups' ratings. Note that the ethanol people love her, despite ethanol being proven as way less than green:

2005-2006 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the Campaign for America's Future 100 percent in 2005-2006 on energy legislation.

2001 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the American Coalition for Ethanol 100 percent in 2001.

Hey, how about parental rights? She probably did pretty well there. Eh?

2007-2008 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the American Family Association 0 percent in 2007-2008.

2007-2008 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the Family Research Council 0 percent in 2007-2008.

2007 Based on a point system, with points assigned for actions in support of or in opposition to Children's Defense Fund's position, Representative Schakowsky received a rating of 100.

She's apparently a big fan of government's wasteful spending too:

2007 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the Citizens Against Government Waste 3 percent in 2007.

And all of the ratings before Obamacare was an issue show that she is high on the list of most health care types, but is apparently selective about what, exactly, health care really is:

2007-2008 In 2007-2008 St. Joseph Health System gave Representative Schakowsky a grade of 100.

2007 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the Alliance For Headache Disorders Advocacy 0 percent in 2007.

2007 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the American Academy of Family Physicians 100 percent in 2007.

2007 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology 100 percent in 2007.

2007 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the Association of University Centers on Disabilites 60 percent in 2007.

2007 In 2007 Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance gave Representative Schakowsky a rating of 50.

2007 On the votes that the The Children's Health Fund considered to be the most important in 2007, Representative Schakowsky voted their preferred position 100 percent of the time.

2006 Representative Schakowsky supported the interests of the Academy of General Dentistry 40 percent in 2006.

Since most of those groups aren't supporting Obamacare, I'd bet her ratings are lower now.

Things are interesting when you get paste the hype and false government promises.

Obama's bold statement

Dear MoveOn member,

Since taking office, President Obama hasn't said much about a key plank of health care reform—the public health insurance option. Some worried he had backed off from his support of it.

Yesterday, all that changed. Obama said: "I strongly believe that Americans should have the choice of a public health insurance option operating alongside private plans. This will give them a better range of choices, make the health care market more competitive, and keep insurance companies honest."1

This is a huge deal. It's Obama using some of his massive political capital to take a crucial stand. And it's going to make a bunch of Republicans and insurance company lobbyists pretty angry at him. In fact, they're spending $20 million to crush this key part of his plan.2
A public health insurance option is the heart of real health care reform. And with the right wing united against it, we need to show Congress just how many Americans stand with Obama on this. Can you sign the petition supporting Obama and the public health insurance option?

Clicking here will sign your name:

The petition says: "I strongly believe that Americans should have the choice of a public health insurance option operating alongside private plans. This will give them a better range of choices, make the health care market more competitive, and keep insurance companies honest."

The public health insurance option, which will provide coverage for all Americans and help bring costs down, is a crucial component of health care reform—and it's Republicans' number one target. As an article in the D.C. newspaper Roll Call put it yesterday:3

"Senate Republicans, realizing they don't have the votes to stop a Democratic health care bill on their own, are relying on a strategy designed to win the public relations battle over defining what it would mean to create a public plan. By the time the Democrats introduce a bill on the floor, Republicans hope to have made it politically impossible to vote for anything that includes a public plan."

This is a critical moment on health care. A key Senate committee is just days away from releasing a first draft of reform legislation, and the right-wing attacks are aimed at making sure it's watered down.

But if hundreds of thousands of us speak up, we can show Congress that Americans demand real health care reform—with a strong public health insurance option. As the President also said yesterday, "In 2009, health care reform is not a luxury. It's a necessity we cannot defer."

Sign the petition today and show Congress that Americans stand with President Obama on health care reform. Clicking here will sign your name:

Thanks for all you do.

My MoveOn, We Don't Want Your Opinion, Chump response:

Uhh... Competitive? How is government entering the business of insurance somehow going to make insurance more competitive? HA!

Know anyone with flood insurance? Where do they get it from? Right, ultimately it's from government. Why? Because private insurance knows that underwriting most of these homes on the coastlines (you know, rich people beach houses) is financially disastrous, so they refuse. In steps government.

Now even people who live in the Midwest can't get flood insurance unless they go through government. Why?

Because government can subsidize insurance with taxpayer money. So instead of operating like a real business, which has to balance risk with income savings, government can just charge whatever they want and then use forced payments from taxpayers to make up the difference when the shit hits the fan.

So you can keep your "public health insurance" bullshit to yourself. If you want it so bad, go get Medicare or enroll in the Veteran's Administration and use that public health care. Leave mine alone.

Oh, you don't think that'll work? You don't think the Medicare system works right? Medicaid is too complicated, doesn't pay enough, and isn't easy to use? Ya, well, welcome to government-run health care.

Good luck getting well, sucker.

Why do you think Canadians come to America for major surgery and "elective" medical work?

Yep, their government won't cover that or puts them on long waiting lists to do it. Even if it's really needed. Oh, by the way, Canada has fewer doctors per capita than we do. Why?

Probably because medical practice no longer pays. The government decides how much they get and few can justify 10+ years of schooling (and the costs associated) for the money they'll be paid upon their exit.

F THAT, buddy. You can keep your government-run health care and insurance. Thank you very much.

Uhhh...what does this have to do with Dick Cheney running (or not running) for President? It looks like a blatantly misleading advertisement for some cell phone company no one's heard of who's probably paid you a pile of money to send out this spam to your email list.

Gee, nice to see that "progressive values" aren't lost on you...

Democrats undermining Obama

Dear MoveOn member,

Remember when Dick Cheney let oil and coal lobbyists craft our nation's energy policy behind closed doors?

Barack Obama may have thrown them out of the White House—but they've relocated to Capitol Hill, with the help of some powerful conservative Democrats in Congress.

In weeks of often secret negotiations over this year's energy bill, these Democrats managed to not just weaken the legislation, but even to slip in language that would prevent the Obama administration from cleaning up coal plants and oil refineries.

We can't let a few conservative Democrats get away with undermining Obama's clean energy jobs plan. So we're fighting back with a massive campaign to fix the bill and expose members of Congress who are undermining Obama—but we need to know if we have the resources to pull it off.

Can you chip in $25 to help out?

Last week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, led by progressive Democrats Henry Waxman and Edward Markey, passed a huge energy bill aimed at creating clean energy jobs.

But unfortunately, a few conservatives on the committee were determined to weaken the bill—and working behind closed doors, they did some real damage.

And what's worse—they didn't just work with Republicans to weaken the bill, they're also trying to tie Obama's hands so he can't take action on his own. The latest version of the legislation would take away the Environmental Protection Agency's existing authority to curb global warming pollution from power plants, oil refineries, and other industrial sources.

Why does that matter? Because the Obama administration is already taking its own steps towards building a clean energy economy. The White House recently announced a bold plan to make cars use less gas—and the EPA is considering whether to propose new rules that would clean up coal plants and oil refineries.1

These steps could help move us toward cleaner, cheaper sources of energy and create millions of clean energy jobs—but not if Congress pulls the rug out from under President Obama before he can act.

We're ramping up a major effort to strengthen the clean energy jobs bill and make sure it doesn't block Obama's efforts. Can you chip in with a contribution of $25? Click here:

Thanks for all you do.

My response to the MoveOn, We Don't Wanna Hear Your Opinion, Plebe:

Oh no! The evil Conservative Democrats are undermining King Obama! AIEEE! Quick, quick! Send us money so we can "fight back" and make the Democrats see the light!

You people crack me up. Do you realize that the missives I receive from you are exactly the same (in content, just swap a few words around) as the missives I get from the National Rifle Association?

Yep. Looks like you're both using the same marketing people to stir up the rabble to get them to send you money.

I have two questions about your email:
1) What green jobs, exactly, are going to be created by this bill? Really, just cause Obama says that they're gonna be doesn't mean they are. Where are the, specifically, within this bill you're so anxious to get passed?

2) Will those green jobs that are supposed to be created raise all of our incomes enough that we'll be able to afford the energy we use (most electricity comes from coal, you ninnies)? Obviously, these new requirements of the coal industry are going to raise costs. Probably considerably, if any of the people who analyze these things are right.

Could those reasons be why your Democrats aren't willing to pass Obama's little plan as-is?

Hmm...

Ten Things About Judge Sonia Sotomayor

Dear MoveOn member,

Today, President Obama nominated Judge Sonia Sotomayor to be the next U.S. Supreme Court justice. Of course, the Right is already fighting against her confirmation—so we need to get the facts out about her impressive qualifications and background.

Below is a list of 10 key things about Sonia Sotomayor that you might not know. Can you check it out and send it to 10 friends today? If each of us forwards the list, we can start to get the word out about Judge Sotomayor, and help to ensure that she gets a speedy and fair confirmation process.

My MoveOn, you leftist hypocrits response:

I left out the rest of it, since it's just a listing of why the Judge is a good choice for the Supreme Court. No proof that she knows how to read and abide by the Constitution is given, of course, which is the entire job of the Supremes. To the people who agree with MoveOn's missives, the "Constitution" is the Bill of Rights minus the 2nd Amendment.

I just wanted to point out one thing to the jackasses at MoveOn:

The supposed attacks on Judge Sotomayor by the "Right" are already happening, as you say. You say it as if they were wrong and evil to be doing it. Hmm...

Don't you do EXACTLY THE SAME DAMN THING whenever the "Right" proposes anything?

Yes, you do.

Hypocrites. It's fine if YOU are the one doing it, since you're obviously "preserving freedom" or "saving us from the evil Right Wing" or whatever. But when THEY do it, it's an outrage!

The sooner people realize that there is no "Left" and there is no "Right" the better. The only thing there is to face is We the People versus They the Thieves in Washington.

WAKE UP!

Breaking news on health care

Dear MoveOn member,

Amazing! After news broke of Blue Cross Blue Shield's new campaign to defeat Obama's health care plan, MoveOn members responded in a huge way. Together, we smashed our goal and raised $270,000 in just one day. (Thanks!)

But the HMOs and insurance giants are just getting started—and we know that their attacks are only going to get uglier and more deceiving. With crucial health care reform decisions being made as we speak, we can't afford to let opponents of bold health care reform go unanswered even once.

So we're setting a new goal: reach $350,000 in the next 24 hours. If we can hit this mark, we'll send a strong message to the entire industry that if they start trying to block Obama's key health care proposal to cover everyone, we'll be ready to fight back—hard.

If you have $25 to chip in, please click here:

Thanks for all you do.

–Patrick S., Laura, Eli, Marika and the rest of the team

My bounced-back response to MoveOn, since they are not interested in feedback, just money:

Well, this makes it pretty damn obvious to me what your real goals are. You don't care about "fixing" any real problems. Only about promoting a socialist agenda and getting people to send you money.

Mostly, it appears, it's getting people to send you money that matters to you.

Looks like the cat's out of the bag. If people like me, who work, produce, and make our own income to support ourselves were like you, nobody would have any money to do anything. Except, of course, government, which creates money out of thin air and hopes no one notices and stops accepting the money.

So how are all of your socialist dream world plans going to work if none of us have an income so that we can donate to your "cause" and make it happen?

What's the overall economic feasibility of socialism? Your brand of socialism, that is.

Exactly. It's not feasible. It just "feels good," and (right now) it makes you a lot of cash. $350,000 worth in the next couple of days, if you get your way. Makes me wonder if I should be in the "social reform" business like you. Seems more profitable.

Breaking news on healthcare...

Dear MoveOn member,

Breaking news on health care: The Washington Post is now reporting that insurance giant Blue Cross Blue Shield "is putting the finishing touches on a public message campaign aimed at killing a key plank in Obama's reform platform."1

The Huffington Post sums it up as "Insurers Planning on Double-Crossing Obama."2

We knew the insurance companies would eventually turn on the president, but this is much sooner than expected. And they're targeting the public health insurance option—the crucial piece that will help cover everyone. So we're immediately launching a rapid-response campaign to go toe-to-toe with Blue Cross Blue Shield and win quality health care for all Americans.

We need to raise $150,000 in the next two days. It's a lot, but we'll need every penny to take on Goliath. We'll run ads, hold events, and work like crazy to get the real truth out to voters. AND we'll keep the pressure on Congress to make sure they don't get bullied into gutting the president's plan to guarantee health care coverage for everyone. Can you chip in $25 right now to make it happen?

The public health insurance option is a key provision in Obama's plan to help cover all of us. It would finally give everyone the choice between keeping our current insurance or switching to a new, high-quality public plan. And under a public health insurance plan our premiums wouldn't subsidize CEO salaries or stockholder profits (or in this case, misleading attack ads), so we'd all save a lot on health care costs.

Plus, if we had the choice of a public plan, private insurers would have to lower rates and improve quality to compete, so they're dead set against it. Today's news just confirms that fact.

In the past, Blue Cross Blue Shield has been sued for underpaying doctors and fined for refusing to cover necessary medical treatments for their customers.3 Now, with what watchdog group Media Matters calls a "desperate attempt to deceive,"4 they've gone one step too far.

Can you chip in $25 to help stand against Blue Cross Blue Shield and pass health care reform with a strong public option?

Thanks for all you do.

–Patrick S., Joan, Michael, Ilyse and the rest of the team

My answer to MoveOn (out of my country, you socialist pigs):

All I have to say about your socialist healthcare plans is this: I'm glad I have insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield and read this before you get all dreamy about how great socialized medicine is gonna be:

Ten Tragic Consequences of Universal Healthcare

It's written by a doctor, unlike your hopeful missives on socialized medicine.

What happened to Obama's plan?

When he was running for President, Barack Obama promised us global warming legislation that made polluters pay for messing up our climate. But in crafting the bill, House Democrats gave away the store - and are now proposing to give the biggest polluters in the country free credits to keep fouling our atmosphere1.

We have to tell Congress that's not OK, and to get back to Obama's plan by making polluters pay for all the pollution credits. But time is short - the bill is being amended and marked up RIGHT NOW in committee. Email your Representative and tell him or her not to weaken Obama's energy bill.

The core of the House bill is to require every climate-polluter in the country to register their emissions, and then decrease them over time. Since polluters can trade credits for money if they cut pollution ahead of schedule, the idea is that we'll create an economic incentive to save the planet. It's worked in the past for acid rain pollution, and lots of people from Al Gore to President Obama think it can help stop global warming too2.

But not if we give away the right to pollute for free. Free credits mean no incentive to reduce pollution. It also means no revenue to help homeowners save energy, or invest in green jobs. The Democratic leadership knows this, but they've traded away the principles of climate protection in favor of picking up votes from a handful of members who are bought-and-sold by industry3.

We can stop them. If we bring enough pressure onto the House, they'll reconsider watering down the bill and make polluters pay for the right to emit carbon again. That's what Obama wanted and what America needs.

Tell Congress not to give polluters a free ride, by making them pay for ALL the carbon credits.

My TrueMajority response to the SocialistMajority (and Drew):

Two points in two sentences will answer your b.s. assumption, Drew:

1) The only polluter with a "free ride" is the nation's number one polluter, the U.S. Government.

2) Obama's promise to "cap carbon" was a load of crap, like most of his promises, and once Congress looked at the facts, they realized that not only is cap and trade a bullshit answer, the question of human-made carbon as the global warming instigator itself is pretty damn iffy.

There ya go, TrueMaSocialists, that's the skinny. Your little plan to create a new global government of socialistic tyranny is thwarted by the fact that only 30% of Americans are gullible enough to believe Al Gore's crap-ass global warming hype.

Sorry, sucks to be you. Why not just pack up and move to Canada? I hear they have pretty good socialism going on up there. Might make you happy. Either way, stop trying to ruin my country with your b.s. Marxism.

All's Quiet

Well, it's been a while since I've received a new missive from either of the socialistic scam groups I follow. Well, honestly, I have received emails, just nothing worth replying to. Mostly just the same old crap, but without the usual "hurry, hurry" vehemency they usually have.

I'm wondering if it's a current slump in socialist politics (not a peep about Cap and Trade) or if maybe their budgets are getting a little tight with the current economy.

Anyway, just wanted to post something to let you all know I haven't stopped with the blog, this is just quiet time.

No haven for tax evaders

Dear Aaron,

Close Corporate Tax Loopholes!

Act now for a fair economy!

For years the biggest companies in America have paid less taxes than the rest of us by 'sheltering' their assets in off-shore banks. But today, President Obama said 'no more'1.

Closing tax loopholes like Obama suggests could add $210 billion to our economy - money we can use for education, jobs and health care. But Corporate America's worst actors - including Bank of America, Citigroup and others - are fighting to hang on to their Cayman-islands loophole2. Tell your member of Congress to make Corporate America pay their share by eliminating these tax haven loopholes.

Tons of major corporations like American Express, A.I.G, Boeing, Hewlett-Packard and Pfizer hide profits in the Cayman Islands and other tax havens. In fact, over 18,000 U.S. companies currently maintain a post office box in one five story building in the Cayman Islands to take advantage of a tax loophole3.

And while those companies flaunt the law, we're stuck cleaning up their economic wreckage. We've spent over $600 trillion bailing out wall street, but those same corporations aren't playing by our rules, yet.

Taxpayers in every state would save millions of dollars, according to new research by the State Public Interest Research Groups. Click to find out how much it means to YOUR state, and then ask Congress to close these tax loopholes.

Dear TrueMaSocialismty, who ignores my emails and lets them bounce back because you could care less about feedback--especially if it goes against your agenda:

I have two points that you conveniently overlook. Two Inconvenient Truths, if you will:

First:
Those tax loopholes are the problem, not the companies who take advantage of them. So why are you attacking the corps who're taking advantage of the dumbass tax system we're using? Why aren't you attacking the IRS who writes the worthless rules instead?

Second:
What about Political Action Committees and other charities like yourselves? How much of your "fair share" do you pay into the tax system? Why not?

The entire tax code was written by two types of people: corporate accountants who wanted to make sure that, if they got paid, they could find big loopholes to save their owners huge amounts of money in taxes. They were also written by government bureaucrats with a power-hungry stance who don't even understand the code themselves.

So here's my proposal (if we're going to keep an income tax): NO WRITEOFFS. You are taxed at a set percentage of your income. Period. No writeoffs of "green" or "family" or "costs of doing business" or whatever. You just pay up. Period. No questions.

So if you're income is $100,000 and the tax is 3%, you have to pony up %3,000. Period. If you're income is $15,000 then you pay $450. No break for being poor. If we're going to have an income tax, it needs to be fair and equitable and the only way to do that is to make it the same for everyone--no matter what. No feel-good excuses, no bullshit. Just pay up.

I guarantee that if everyone had to pay a flat amount for taxes, two things would happen: first, they'd Goddamned notice when that tax went up and second, they'd FnA notice how much they paid.

So quit screwing arount with your Commie "blame the corporation" game and get to the heart of the issue. Those companies and our current Treasury Secretary skimped on taxes because the loopholes in the law were there for them to take advantage of. Instead of closing the loopholes so they have to go find new ones, why not just do away with the whole Swiss Cheese system altogether?!

Emergency briefing with Howard Dean on Monday

Dear MoveOn member,

Urgent update on health care: Next week, Congress will begin making the actual decisions about what'll be in a health care reform bill.

Meanwhile, conservative groups have launched a new assault on the president's proposal, including a million-dollar ad campaign claiming that health care will be rationed and "bureaucrats" will "decide the treatments you receive."1

If real people like us don't get involved in this health care fight now, it could all fall apart. So we're holding an emergency online briefing on Monday night at 9 p.m. ET with Dr. Howard Dean to make sure we're all ready for the fight ahead, called "What we all need to know to win on health care this year."

If fixing our health care system is important to you, this is an event you shouldn't miss. All you need to join in is a computer with an internet connection. Can you join us?

Here are the details:

What: Emergency Online Briefing with Dr. Howard Dean (Organized by MoveOn and Democracy for America)

When: Monday, May 4, 9 p.m. ET/ 8 CT/ 7 MT/ 6 PT

Where: MoveOn.org's web site

Click here to tell us you'll be listening in—and submit a question for Dr. Dean:

Yes! I'll be there.

No, that time doesn't work for me.

Last time Democrats tried to pass comprehensive health care reform, it failed. And it failed in part because the opposition was better organized and spread a bunch of lies that progressives weren't prepared to rebut.

It's up to us to not let that happen again. This time, we all need to be well-armed with the critical information to keep the right from blocking change. Dr. Dean will give us an inside look at the battle for real health care reform—and the secrets about what it'll take to achieve a historic victory.

With a key Senate committee meeting on Tuesday to start shaping legislation—plus the right wing's escalating attacks—this couldn't be more urgent.

I'll be part of the emergency briefing, and I really hope you can join me at this crucial moment. Please click here to RSVP:

Thanks for all you do.

My response to the MoveOn, buddy, we don't want your free-thinking kind here gorup:

Ya, it wasn't that you couldn't come up with a response, morons, it was because they were logical and intelligent. So you couldn't scream your emotional outbursts of "WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?" and whatever other emote-button-pushing b.s. you come up with to get people to think that socialized medicine is somehow going to work here, despite having failed everywhere else in the world.

Jackasses. I'm glad Howard Dean is your spokesman on this. You couldn't have found a bigger ninny in Washington.

Unfit to judge

Dear MoveOn member,

Quick quiz: You're a powerful government lawyer who gives the legal go-ahead for a secret U.S. torture program.

Do you:
a) Lose your license to practice law
b) Go to jail
c) Win a lifetime appointment to one of the highest courts in the land

In the case of Jay Bybee, the answer is "c." Bybee, the lawyer responsible for many of the worst Bush-era torture memos, is currently serving on the prestigious 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, thanks to his old boss, George W. Bush.

That's just not right.

Jay Bybee showed no respect for our laws and isn't fit to be a federal judge. Can you sign our petition to Congress calling for the impeachment of Jay Bybee?

The petition says: "Jay Bybee, the man behind the torture memos, is unfit to be a federal judge. Congress should impeach him.

President Obama said last night that torture "corrodes the character of a country." He's right. Jay Bybee, who violated the law by coming up with a "legal" rationale for waterboarding and other acts of torture, isn't qualified to hold a position charged with upholding our Constitution.

The outcry for his impeachment is growing; leading progressive in Congress are demanding answers,1 and 20,000 Americans have called for Bybee's impeachment.2 As The New York Times said: "Mr. Bybee is unfit for a job that requires legal judgment and a respect for the Constitution. Congress should impeach him."3

The calls to impeach Bybee are getting noticed—but Congress hasn't acted yet, and might not, unless we ramp up the call for accountability. There's a real chance Bybee will be held accountable, but only if we show Congress that if they lead, we'll support them.

Can you sign the petition today?

Thanks for all that you do.

–Nita, Kat, Peter, Ilyse, Justin and the rest of the team

My "We don't want to hear from the TrueMajority, so we reject incoming emails" response to TrueMajority:

I don't know how to break this to you, but for once, I kind of agree with you. He's unfit to judge.

Of course, so are 90% of the judges on the docket: from the federal to the local level. This is why I vote "NO" in all elections when it comes to picking a judge. Screw them and their "job for life" b.s.

I say we put 10-12 year term limits on all judges and automatically disbar them once their term is up so they can't go on practicing as a lawyer afterwards, taking advantage of their inside connections.

In fact, maybe we should institute this for all government offices. You volunteer to get elected and/or get a government job. Great. We'll pay you well, take care of your family, etc. In return? After 12 years, you lose your job and are immediately given the death penalty.

This would definitely discourage politicians-for-life as well as the rampant cronyism and insider dealing that goes on in government. Plus, it will help with population control. Win-win-win!
